Mirror
by Kylie Sherman We think mirrors are smooth. Not made of broken jagged splinters. They’re supposed to live on the wall. Not in your mind or around your home. They’re certainly not supposed to encircle your heart and pretend to be protection while emitting fluorescent light and glass shards and break it instead. Too many rely on mirrors and walk with them for support when they are not-- and never have been-- shatterproof. (That’s just their party line.) Mirrors present an image that is as unreal as they are. And our world desperately needs to remain real. |
